Aufruf invitation wording
An Aufruf or bavarfen invitation welcomes family and friends to the chosson’s aliyah and any accompanying Kiddush. Identify the shul and schedule clearly.
Name the occasion and the chosson
Include the chosson’s preferred name and family wording, the Shabbos parsha and date, the shul name and full address. State whether guests are invited for davening, the aliyah, the Kiddush or a combination.
A simple English starting point
With gratitude to Hashem, please join our family for the Aufruf of [chosson’s name]. Shabbos [parsha and date], at [shul and full address]. Davening at [time], followed by a Kiddush. The Friedman Family. Change these details to match your actual schedule.
Clarify the place and time
A large shul may have several minyanim or a separate room for the Kiddush. Include the correct room, entrance or floor if needed. Confirm the prayer time with the shul rather than copying it from another invitation.
Review names and dates
Ask the family to approve Hebrew names, honorifics and any mention of the kallah’s family. Check the weekday and date, then inspect the downloaded file at the size your guests will see it.
