Bris Milah invitation wording

A bris invitation should announce the family simcha and make the confirmed time and location clear. Use the wording approved by the family.

Start with the family announcement

Include the parents’ or family name, the weekday and date, the location and the starting time. Ask the family which names and honorifics they wish to use. Avoid inserting a baby’s sample name that is not part of the approved announcement.

A simple English starting point

With gratitude to Hashem, we invite our family and friends to the bris milah of our newborn son. [Weekday and date], at [time], [venue and full address]. The seudah will follow at [location, if different]. The Friedman Family.

Confirm the schedule before sharing

Use only the date and time confirmed by the family and those arranging the bris. Give separate information for the seudah when needed. If you also announce a Vachnacht, label its evening date and address clearly.

Check the finished invitation

Review the family name, day, date, starting time, venue and address. Include the correct entrance or room in a large building. Send yourself a test and make sure all details remain readable on a phone.
