Jewish wedding invitation wording
Choose wedding wording together with both families. Agree on names, honorifics and the ceremony schedule before arranging the final design.
Build the invitation in a clear order
A traditional invitation commonly opens with gratitude and an invitation to participate in the simcha, followed by the chosson and kallah, their families, the date, venue and ceremony details. Customs vary. Follow the wording approved by your families and ask about any titles or references that need special care.
A simple English starting point
With gratitude to Hashem, together with our families, we invite you to celebrate the marriage of [chosson] and [kallah]. The wedding will take place on [weekday and date] at [venue and address]. Kabbalas panim: [time]. Chuppah: [time]. Replace these labels and times with your actual program.
Check every name and title
Confirm the chosson’s and kallah’s preferred Hebrew names, parents’ names and family surnames. Ask the families how they wish to list grandparents and any memorial references. Do not guess an honorific. Read a plain-text version aloud with the family before polishing the layout.
Review the practical details
Check that the weekday agrees with both the Hebrew and civil date. Give a full address and distinguish arrival time from chuppah time. Review print size with the printer before purchase. Keep a clear proof copy that both families have approved.
