Tenoyim and Vort invitation wording

Choose wording that accurately describes your engagement gathering. A Vort and a Tenoyim celebration may follow different family customs, so agree on the heading first.

Agree on names and hosts

Confirm the chosson’s and kallah’s names, their parents’ names and how both families want to be listed. Decide whether you are announcing the engagement or inviting guests to a particular celebration. Ask the families which titles and spellings they prefer.

A simple English starting point

With joy and gratitude to Hashem, we invite our family and friends to celebrate the engagement of [chosson] and [kallah]. Please join us on [weekday and date] at [time], [venue and full address]. The [family] and [family] families. Adjust the heading to Vort or Tenoyim as appropriate.

Keep both families easy to read

Place family names and addresses in separate lines or text layers when that makes the arrangement clearer. Check that the visual layout gives each side the intended prominence and that English and Hebrew punctuation appear correctly.

Review the practical details

Confirm the exact gathering time and venue, including the room or entrance. Share a proof with both families. If you change the wording after approval, send a fresh proof so everyone is reviewing the same version.
